For a small island there is a surprisingly number of tourist attractions to keep busy and making Langkawi a good holiday destination for families. That said, being such a small island allows visitors the chance to cover most of the attractions in a day or two.

Be advised that most venues are closed on national and public holidays (if in doubt best to check with the hotel concierge before setting out).

For self drive tours, there are plenty of free maps and most have a brief description of the about each site.

As for festivals and current events around Langkawi visit the government's tourist office at Jl. Pesiaran Putra, Kuah Town. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and eager to assist.
